Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has recently signed the concession agreement to develop berth number 13 at the Deendayal port in Kandla, Gujarat. This berth will be handling multipurpose cargo. Adani’s Plans To Extend Its Port Presence In Gujarat:
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has recently signed the concession agreement with DPA (Deendayal Port Authority) to develop berth number 13 at the Deendayal port in Kandla, Gujarat. APSEZ has also incorporated a subsidiary called DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal (DPACCCTL). The subsidiary will be responsible for carrying out the various operations at the berth. This berth will handle multipurpose cargo. It is expected to be fully commissioned by FY27 post which it will have a big role to play in increasing the cargo carrying capacity of the Deendayal port.
In July 2024, APSEZ had received the Letter of Intent (LOI) for the development, operation and maintenance of the berth no. 13 for a total of 30 years concession period. As per recent news, APSEZ will develop the berth under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) model. This development will be made for the handling of multipurpose clean cargo. This would also include container cargo. The berth no. 13 is 300m long. It offers 5.7 MMT annual capacity. The commissioning of the berth will be completed by 2027 adding to Adani Group’s extraordinary milestones achieved in the port sector.

The whole time director and CEO of APSEZ, Ashwani Gupta has mentioned that the berth no. 13 will be diversifying the Adani Group’s presence at the Deendayal port. The company will now handle multipurpose clean cargo at the port in addition to the dry cargo that it has already been handling. The berth will also consolidate the company’s position on the western coast of India. It will enhance the company’s ability to offer extraordinary services to the people of Gujarat. Once this berth becomes operational, the Adani Group’s presence in the global port sector will increase.
